
Em Walling’s creative work aims to explore the physical, emotional, and psychological connections people have with the environment. Her poem “Coping—in Threes” from Bell Press Books was nominated for a Pushcart Prize in 2022, and The Gateway Review nominated her magical realism story “Hollowed Onions” for the Write Well Award in 2016.
Em’s writing and photography have appeared in a range of literary journals and anthologies including: the Nuclear Impact: Broken Atoms in Our Hands anthology from Shabda Press, the Erase the Patriarchy anthology from University of Hell Press, the Red Skies anthology from Splintered Disorder Press, and the Rituals anthology from Bell Press Books.
Em is the associate editor of Slippery Elm Literary Journal, and she completed a Master of Arts in Rhetoric and Writing in 2019. When not writing, Em can be found volunteering for a pelican and seabird rescue organization.
