Em Walling’s creative work aims to explore the physical, emotional, and psychological connections people have with the environment. Her writing and photography have appeared in a range of literary journals and anthologies, including: the Nuclear Impact: Broken Atoms in Our Hands anthology from Shabda Press, the Erase the Patriarchy anthology from University of Hell Press, and the Red Skies anthology from Splintered Disorder Press. The Gateway Review nominated her magical realism story “Hollowed Onions” for the Write Well Award in 2016 (Silver Pen Writers).
Em is the associate editor of Slippery Elm Literary Journal, and she completed a Master of Arts in Rhetoric and Writing in 2019. When not writing, Em volunteers for a pelican and seabird rescue organization.
